DEBATE.  Big data has transformed the volume of data available at our fingertips, and the speed with which it can be accessed and processed.   The potential applications of this to support monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of complex development programs has generated great excitement.  But is all the enthusiasm warranted?  Will big data integrate with evaluation -- or is this all just hype?
